LearnPod, first run in 2010 under the name "The Social Media: are you ready? PODCAMP", is an unconference taking place at Doncaster College, at the heart of England’s first ever Digital Region. The event allows learning practitioners, learners, commercial providers and enthusiasts from all over the country to come together for a free and informal exchange of practice and ideas, around the following themes:
- What innovations can we use to reshape education for the benefit of teachers and learners?
- How can we use social media to change teaching & learning practice - and should we?
- How do practitioners and learners work with management and strategists to make technology work for them?
The event is an unconference, meaning that anyone can contribute to the event, with workshops and agendas set at the start of the day. So, all you need to attend is an enthusiasm for the subject and some ideas to share. All information is shared using open access (Creative Commons) principles, so after the event everyone will be able to continue the disscussions.
Free wireless Internet connectivity will be provided, as well as presentation rooms with projectors and digital whiteboards.
We're hoping to have some innovative, high profile, workshop leads including John Popham, the founder of Twicket and the founder of the "Sukey" app, alongside Learnpod founder and Freeserve co-creator Rob Wilmot.
